Q: I’m trying to factory reset my camera in the Oncam C-Series Camera Configuration Tool (CCT), but it won’t work. What’s wrong?
A: The most common reason that a factory reset fails is that the camera isn’t logged in. When this happens, the CCT prevents mass actions from running. You can confirm this by checking for a warning triangle next to the camera in the discovery pane. Hover over the icon, and you’ll see the message:
"Warning! - Camera not logged in, could result in faulty mass action."
How to Fix It:
If you’re dealing with one camera:
- Find the camera in the discovery pane.
- Click the "Login" link under the Actions column.
- Enter the required credentials.
- If the link changes to "Configure", you’re good to go—try the factory reset again.
- If the link changes to "Set User ID", click it and enter a username and password to save for future logins.
- Once the User ID is set, you’re now logged in, and the factory reset should work.
If you’re dealing with multiple cameras:
- Click the "Login All" icon in the top left of the discovery pane.
- Enter the required credentials.
- If the links for all cameras change to "Configure", you can proceed with the factory reset.
- If the links change to "Set User ID", click the "User ID" icon in the configuration menu at the top and set a username and password to save for future logins.
- Once all cameras display "Configure" under the Actions column, they are now logged in, and the factory reset should now work.
By making sure your cameras are properly logged in, you’ll be able to complete a factory reset and other mass actions in CCT without any issues!
